Academic resources
Our Oakland campus offers a range of resources at no additional cost to help you excel in your academic journey.
Academic advising
One-on-one advising is available to all undergraduate students to ensure you meet your academic goals. Our advisors will answer questions about your coursework, assist you in planning for future semesters, and host workshops that enhance your skills.
Appointments are available Monday through Friday on a drop-in basis. Or you can book a time through Northeastern’s student hub or via email at oaklandadvising@northeastern.edu.

Writing and Tutoring Center
Our Writing and Tutoring Center offers undergraduate and graduate students on-campus support to improve their academic writing proficiency and course-specific peer tutoring.
Writing tutors will help you develop ideas, build a strong thesis, and cite evidence and sources appropriately as you work on class papers. They also provide support on creative writing assignments. Peer tutors on the Oakland campus can help you with specific courses that you find challenging and assist you with study and exam-taking preparation.
Based on student preference and tutor availability, virtual and in-person tutoring sessions may be available. Students can sign up for writing or subject tutoring appointments using Navigate.
Peer Tutoring
Northeastern Peer Tutoring taps into the university’s full undergraduate student community to provide online tutoring for our students. This peer tutoring program is available to all eligible first-year undergraduate students, as well as students enrolled in specific high-demand courses across the Northeastern global network.
View supported courses each semester on the Northeastern Peer Tutoring website, and sign up for virtual tutoring through Knack.
Additional virtual tutoring support may be available through the Northeastern college that offers your degree program, including the College of Engineering and the College of Professional Studies.

One of the most popular and beautiful study spots on campus, the F. W. Olin Library provides students with access to electronic databases, a catalog of over 240,000 volumes, and an impressive collection of rare books and manuscripts available for scholarly use. You’ll also have access to our knowledgeable library staff who can provide in-person and online research support.
